It’s been another big day for the pupsters. They seem to have used that hour to become even cuter! Late this morning, their Mama and Great GrammieSammie decided it was time and hurled up their breakfast for them. I’d thought it was probably getting close so I had mixed up some ground beef and puppy formula and set it on to warm.
We had more visitors - the pupsters met 4 new people (Deja’s sister Stella’s family) today - and 2 are non-adults. The puppies were asleep when they arrived but managed to wake up and intereact. They demonstrated their ability to be adorable pretty thoroughly and although they did plenty of gnawing, they don’t really have the mouths full of needle teeth yet so it’s a lot more pleasant. It’s actually kind of cute when they gum my fingers or toes or arms.
GreatGrammieSammie, at 13.5 years old, still demonstrated her skills as puppy guardian with the visitors. She greeted them when they arrived and all was well as we did the introductions. It was even all well while the girls went into the puppy pen and we handed various puppies to Uncle Dr Paul. She certainly came alive when he got into the pen. Fortunately, she gives warning (she’s more about stopping threats to puppies than actually getting someone) and I intercepted her. She’s fine as soon as they sit down, too. She doesn’t like men looming over babies, though.
After they left, I introduced the pupsters to real food. I managed to get in while they were sleeping and individually started it on my fingers and then into the flying saucer bowl. There was no hesitation whatsoever and they ate almost all of it. They also took little breaks to clean each some off of each other. Then I let their Mama in to clean finish the job. She cleaned up the dishes, the puppies and any spots they’d left on the bedding. The puppies tried to nurse as they followed her around and then she settled in to top them off again. So far this evening, it has all gone fine so I’ve prepared tomorrow morning’s breakfast and we’ll add in regular meals.
The rest of the day was mostly just their regular puppy adorableness. So we’re going to say Nighty, nighty, nighty. Puppy breath to all!
