April 9, 2016 Pupdate

New collars on last night and I've already had to loosen some of them.  Poor little Allium's felt pretty tight this evening.  At the weight watchers meeting, the last puppy doubled her birth weight.  It took Phlox a little longer to double because she started out larger.  She's also the first 2 pounder although several others are closing in quickly enough.

They were all pretty quiet for puppy yoga this evening.  It helps that they were mostly in milk comas.  Most of them were even pretty cooperative for the weight watchers meeting.  Timing is key ;-). I do have to get out a larger box, they aren't exactly fitting in the container we've been using.

LeAnne came over to see the puppies today and most of them demonstrated their training by yawning when she cuddled them.  And LeAnne is one of the few people who isn't addicted to puppy breath.  ;-). They were pretty good at snuggling with her, too.  AN important start in puppies to me.

The pupsters are pretty athletic already.  It's alway surprising to me how strong they are. I hope they get their eyes open BEFORE they start going over the wall of the pool.  They are almost able to scale Mount Mama and can nurse while she is sitting up.

She's spending more time out of the pool but still not very long.  Even when the puppies are satiated, she generally stays with them or gets right back in with them,  And she is officially cleaning up after them.  I'm glad her instincts finally kicked in because her Mama wasn't doing that for her either.  SammieDoodlebug has decided that she will gently lick the faces of the puppies when we are holding them now though.

Tamara has been getting lots of pictures of the puppies being adorable and doign cute things.  I take pictures but mostly they just stay on my phone.  Iffen does report that some of the ones I take are crisp and well lit but I mostly just text them to the Villagers ;-)

LeAnne and I took the old dogs on the hill today.  (Caly is a few minutes older than Mila so it counts). Mila actually showed some interest but I don't think she'd have been interested in leaving her puppies that long.  She DOES love the pond though.  (Since it SNOWED today - little accumulation that didn't last, we didn't encourage anyone to play in the pond). We'll have to hide what we are doing better but I suspect she knows the signs well enough that she won't be fooled.  She played with her Humama a little bit and then went back to her puppies.  She was happy to see Caly outside but didn't want Caly to look at her puppies.  Caly wasn't particularly interested in the puppies (she was interested in Mila's rear end) so it wasn't a difficult situation.

Not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow.  The puppies will probably eat and sleep and sing; Mila will eat and feed puppies and sleep; the old dogs will hang with the humans; and the humans will spen most waking moments cooing over puppies and cuddling the occasional old dog ;-)

Puppy breath to all!
