How in this world did they get to be 8 weeks old already!?! I’m not ready for them to grow up that much. It is fascinating how much they are absorbing and advancing though.
Not many things are as cute as the puppies running inside into their pen but them running into crates is close. That’s a little harder because they don’t really try to go into an enpty crate- they just hurry into crates as fast as they can. That works fine when it’s a large crate but the learning to sleep in crates ones are smaller so I have to do some readjusting. 🤣 It’s still adorable as is them running out to potty upon release.
As predicted, this morning started much much to early. To add insult to injury, the bright moon woke me an hour earlier than I’d planned to drag myself out of bed! The puppies were good sports about starting our day early (but that’s par for the course)
They had breakfast; pottied and ran amok a little before we loaded them up and drove, drove, drove. There was a little fussing at the beginning but they were quiet the rest of the way. At one point, we stopped for a human potty break but they weren’t stirring so we didn’t wake them. But while we were inside, apparently MarmieCarmie stirred enough in her crate that the sensor detected her. So the horn kept blowing. Really loudly imo. But they weren’t making a peep so we didn’t drag them out.
They were a big hit at the eye exams, a crate full of puppies IS awfully cute so they drew a fair amount of attention. They fussed a liitle (but very loudly) while all crowded together (we took a single door crate instead of a 3 door so we had it on the short end to keep them from escaping) waiting for their eyes to dilate but quieted when I shared bites of string cheese through the crate. Great Uncle Trek also needed his share of the cheese but they had to chew and that was also interesting. There were some “puppy spots” (juvenile dystrophy) which will clear in a month (it always has, they are there when you check young puppies) and one puppy had an interesting fold that won’t affect vision or get worse but the resident got to come see that, too. We’ve never had that before but it’s apparently more common in other breeds.
We were heading for the long trip home after another little potty time in the ex pen but ended up needed to take a detour to the house (well driveway) of the lady who was doing their conformation evaluations because she wasn’t going to be able to make it to our house in the evening. We dropped Trekkie off at his house and finally made it home where the puppies had a meal and ran, ran, ran, ran all around their yard.
Great Aunt Quinn and her people came to see us. It’s been too long since I’ve visited with Quinn (her people, too but I’ve communicated with them.). She’s still very, very sweet and seems to enjoy playing with the Big 3 individually (especially her first cousin DejaView; one of his littermates lives close to them so she’s also played with her when Zoe was a puppy); and the puppies. I think she’s going to enjoy being a big sister (as long as the puppies will chase her)
We gave the puppies baths in the kitchen sinkj because someone was sick in the crate so everyone smelled unpleasant. They’d been getting pretty dirty wallering in the yard, too so it was time. The next time will probably be in the shower (with squirty cheese on the wall 😉:
I’m still carsick (it’d be great to recover as quickly as the puppies) so I think we will call it a night for now. Nighty, nighty, nighty. Puppy breath to all!
